Winter’sSpring

Winterhadarrivedinfullforce,bringingwithitsnow,icywinds,andfreezingtemperatures.Asthedaysgrewshorterandthenightslonger,peoplebundledupincoats,hats,andgloves,hurryingtogetfromoneplacetoanotherasquicklyaspossible.Itseemedasthoughtheworldhadbecomealittlecolder,alittleharsher,andalittlelesswelcoming.Butdespitethebitterchillthatenvelopedtheland,therewasstillhope–hopeintheformofatinyseed,waitingpatientlybeneaththesnow,forthewarmthofspringtoarrive.

Onecoldwintermorning,ayounggirlnamedLilysetoutonanerrandforhermother.Shewrappedherselfinathickscarfandpulledonhermittensbeforesteppingoutsideintothebitingcold.Herbreathfoggedupinfrontofher,andsheshiveredasshemadeherwaydownthestreet.
